Methuen & Co., London, 1954 (copyright). "First published April 22nd 1954; Reprinted 1954" - stated. Beige cloth, gilt letters against brown background. Minor spine bumping, hd & ft, corners. Crisp white pages w/o markings, except "F8F" in pencil near top of gutter inside front board & a little squiggle, also in pencil, near the gutter on back board (Who knows?). All gilt is bright. Both end-papers have browned with age. Book is tightly bound, with just a little separation at the head. Both hinges are sound. The DJ has been extensively repaired with rice paper, as the spine and flaps were all in pieces and had been scotch-taped together. (Some of that old tape is still present, in places, inside of the jacket.) Minor chipping, edge-creasing and a couple of small missing pieces have also been closed. Publisher's original price of 15s. net, at bottom of front flap. Still bright & colorful. Now in a ClearBags protective book cover. 407 pages.
